Mapping vegetation distribution

Information on where a certain type of vegetation is found and where it is not found is of course less informative than information about how much is found. Nevertheless, maps of distribution (presences vs absences) are very useful in marine spatial planning and environmental impact assessment.

In PREHAB we have shown that the distribution of vegetation often can be predicted and mapped using bioloical samples and statistical techniques. In order to perform or commission sampling and modelling for maps on distribution of macrovegetation, it is important to be aware of the possibilities and limitations given certain types of data and methods. PREHAB has evaluated these issues by modelling of XX types of vegetation in XX areas around the Baltic.
